Balance Coordination Ease

Class begins September 28 and runs through October on Mondays at 9:30 or noon.

Class size is limited to 6.

This is an Alexander Technique basics class for adults. I can also offer it on Saturdays for teens and college students.

We'll cover the basic principles and explore habits and movement process for better coordination and balance. Moving with more ease is always the goal of Alexander Technique. Spread the word or check it out for yourself.

Look for a free Find Your UP demo class in September.

Call about one on one Alexander Technique lessons.

Building Better Focus

We had a great Summer Intensive with lots of wonderful growth in children!

A limited number of weekly slots are available during the school year. Saturday mornings are also possible.

Monthly check-ins are available for folks who are continuing to work at home.

I also have some Interactive Metronome at-home units to rent.

She has authored a series of book and developed a program about childhood reflexes and how to integrate them. I have copies of her books and game if you're interested. I use her work (along with other training I've done) but don't follow her specific program.

Note: This is very good information, but she's quite a salesperson and uses a lot of words to make her points.

Also note: Kokeb has an amazing home-based program that includes an app subscription service with awesome video resources. I've subscribed to it in the past, and it's easy to use, although there's an on-going expense. If you are interested in building an at-home program (less traveling, on your own schedule, monthly check-in rather than weekly lessons), please let me know. I can help you set something up with or without the app. It's all about what works best for your child's development.

Parents Borrowing Library

Topics include ADHD . . . Love & Logic . . . Hypermobility . . . Alexander Technique

Just let me know you're interested and I'll sign a book out to you. Then let me know when you return it so I can cross it off in the check-out book.

LOTS of Piano News!!!

What a great summer! So many cool experiences I've heard from the kids! In many weeks that didn't leave too many minutes to practice, but there is so much good news about piano playing.

Lessons start September 14.

Level 1 and 2 families: I'll be in touch about days and times.

Note: I'm telling the kids that they should prepare 5 pieces to play in September. We will hear those the SECOND lesson so we have a chance to review and regroup in the first lesson.

Level 3

They accomplished a lot! Level 3A kids kept playing and figured out low sol and la in F Position. The 3B kids worked out C position. Being able to move the hands around the keyboard is a BIG deal! They also did DUETS! Playing on your own is fun, but begin able to keep your own part while playing with someone else is a whole new world!

Will last year's days/times still work?

NO NEED TO REGISTER AGAIN FOR LESSONS!

Tuesday Level 3 lesson 5 pm

Calvin, Daniel, Lincoln

Thursday Level 3 lessons 5 pm

Derek, Nolan

Level 4

Most of the Level 4 kids are playing hands together!! BIG YAY!! That's a tough transition. AND we're able to use counting that we learned in spring—another HUGE accomplishment. They got to play some fun songs and keep their fingers, eyes, and ears going. We also got to apply some of the finger exercises we did in spring to actual songs. AND we played from books!!!

The big news is that the acoustic piano will arrive this week. Some Level 4 students have already started working on dynamics, but we'll also explore articulation (legato/staccato) and phrasing in the fall. There will be more solos, and those will be played on the acoustic piano.

We will start with a big review and then get their hands moving all over the keyboard.

Will last year's days/times still work? NOTE: please plan on 50 minute lessons this year. We seem to run over anyway, so let's just plan on it this year. Fees remain the same.

NO NEED TO REGISTER AGAIN FOR LESSONS!

Tuesday Level 4 lessons 4 pm

RemPlenish Myo Nozzles

These are marketed for reducing snoring, but they are also great for helping children who had trouble nursing. The nozzle gets the mouth working in the same way as a baby nursing. It strengthens muscles in the back of the throat and jaw area as well as in the back of the neck (which extends down between the shoulder blades.) Ask for a demonstration.

The tongue has facial connections all the way down the center of the body to the big toe. This is a powerful muscle train for developing posture and coordination. Many reflexes are involved so it can bring marked improvement for some issues as well as a sense of coming together for the body (which can bring a sense of calm to the system).

Here is their website. I will place an order in the fall for anyone who might like one. I get reduced shipping if I buy multiples. And sometimes I can get a reduced price per unit.

Let me know if you're interested.
